Position Overview
Paraprofessionals play a vital role in supporting student learning and maintaining a positive classroom environment. Working under the direction of a lead teacher and school leadership, the paraprofessional engages with students daily, assists with both instructional and non-instructional tasks, and helps preserve the integrity of the learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with teachers to support daily classroom instruction
Assist with classroom management using redirection and assertive discipline strategies
Provide small-group and one-on-one instructional support in reading, language, math, reasoning, writing, and spelling
Reinforce positive learning habits (e.g., staying on task, tracking, following along)
Monitor student work, provide feedback, and assist with corrections
Record or grade assignments as requested by the teacher
Administer checkouts and retests under teacher guidance
Support students who need additional help to reach proficiency
Supervise students during morning arrival, lunch/recess, and afternoon dismissal/bus duty
Participate in Back to School Night and other required after-school events
Attend professional development training and implement school policies consistently
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Leadership Team
Qualifications
High school diploma required; college coursework or degree preferred
Clear and effective oral and written communication skills
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect data and draw valid conclusions
Ability to follow state, federal, and school policies
Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
Strong classroom presence and ability to support student learning and behavior
Commitment to ongoing professional growth and annual evaluation
