Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join the team at Ashland Middle School. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students with diverse needs. This full-time position requires collaboration with general education teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure that all students receive the tailored instruction and resources they need to thrive academically and socially.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt and modify curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the needs of students with special needs.
- Conduct assessments to evaluate students’ progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
- Provide direct instruction to students in both one-on-one and small group settings.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress, preparing reports for parents and school administrators.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes social skills and peer relationships.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to discuss student progress and address any concerns.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education.
- Collaborate with related service providers, such as speech therapists and occupational therapists, to support student needs.
- Serve as an advocate for students with disabilities, ensuring they receive the necessary resources and support within the school community.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education (LBD) or a related field
- Valid state teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with middle school students with disabilities is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
- Proficient in using technology and educational software to enhance learning.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and growth in the field of special education.
