    Job Title:   Paraprofessional/ISS Aide                               Contract:  At will    

     

    Reports to:  Campus Admins/Principal                             Department/School: Elementary

     

    Wage/Hour Status:   Commensurate with experience/qualifications    

     

    Qualifications:

     

    Education/Certification:

     

    High school diploma or GED

     

    A minimum of 48 credit hours or equivalent

     

    Valid Texas educational aide certificate (SBEC) AND Paraprofessional training which meets

     

    “Highly Effective” standards (can obtain if needed)

     

    Special Knowledge/Skills:

     

    Strong organization and disciplinary skills

     

    Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

     

    Ability to communicate effectively

     

    Knowledge of general office equipment

     

    Experience:

     

    Recommended experience in working with children

     

    Major Responsibilities and Duties:

     

    Instructional Support

     
    1. Maintain a neat and orderly classroom.

    2. Care for and maintain equipment and supplies.

    3. Maintain administrative records.

    4. Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers as needed.

     

    Student Management

     
    1. Help manage behavior of students. 

    2. Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student’s special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs.

    3. Work with individual students or small groups assigned by the teacher.

    4. Supervise students throughout the school day.

    5. Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students concerning assignments.

    1. Maintain confidentiality.

    2. Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned.

     

    Safety

     

    Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

    Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

     

    Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling; some occasional lifting.
