DEFINITION
Under direction of a principal or assistant principal, AN Paraprofessionals assist the classroom teacher, special education teacher or provider with the supervision and instruction of students according to the student’s IEP.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives direct supervision from the principal or assistant principal.
Receives day to day direction from the classroom teacher, special education teacher or special service provider.Crisis/Floater AN Paraprofessional job responsibilities include:
1. Be prepared to assist in the case of a crisis at any time.
2. Follow CPI protocols for verbal de-escalation and restraint.
3. Any necessary disciplinary actions will be left to the AN teachers this includes phone calls to parents.
4. All communications regarding students (behaviors/arrival times/departure times, etc) need to go through AN teachers directly.
5. To best serve our students’ needs, all technology, computers and phones, are to be used at the end of the day. Anecdotal notes are to be entered at the end of the day when all AN students have been escorted onto their buses.
6. Escort students to restrooms if necessary.
7. Escort students to specials and lunch if necessary.
8. Provide support for AN students when they are outside at recess.
9. Refer any concerns regarding AN students to the AN classroom teacher.
10. Familiarize self and follow Behavior Continuums for each student.
11. Carry out data collection as requested by AN teacher.
12. Do not enter/exit AN classrooms without clearing it by AN teacher for that classroom. Limit all unnecessary interruptions.
13. When in AN classroom, do not engage in unnecessary conversations with staff or students. Limit all conversations to the minimum necessary.
15. To ensure the privacy of our students, personal information, including things that happen in the classroom and at school, are not to be discussed with anyone outside of the program. Refer anyone with concerns, including gen ed and specials teachers or other staff, to AN teacher.

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:Classroom management
Basic knowledge of Standards Based Education
Children with special health care needs
Age appropriate activities
Stages of child development
English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Modern office procedures and methods.
Basic computer knowledge
Ability to:
Perform clerical duties such as filing and copying
Work efficiently with a service oriented attitude under stressful situations with constant interruption
Effectively manage time and multiple responsibilities
Work independently in the absence of supervision
Operate and use modern office equipment including a computer and various software packages
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
Speak Spanish – (ELL Aide only)
Monitor and record student data
EXPERIENCE & TRAINING GUIDELINES
Education:A high school diploma or equivalent is required. In order to be highly qualified, the paraprofessional must pass the paraprofessional test or possess an associate’s degree in any field of study.
WORKING CONDITIONSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works inside. The noise level is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, walk and stand. Occasional lifting of 25 pounds or less.
Special Education Paraprofessionals might be required to lift, move or have the ability to position students as needed to provide health services.

• Effective teaching skills to model and teach pro-social replacement behaviors
Primary Duties:
• Provide direct instructional services and in-class support
• Facilitate student participation in the school environment
• Assist in the general education classroom as requested
• Ensure student safety
• Effectively redirect inappropriate student behaviors
• Maintain a positive attitude and act as an appropriate role model at all times
• Maintain incident reports, health logs, and other records
• Act as liaison to teachers, providers, administrators, parents, and community
*Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
*High School Diploma or equivilent
*Paraprofessionals may be required to lift students/objects, position students' bodies as needed in and around the learning environment, and respond efficiently "in-the-moment" to what are sometimes unpredictable physical needs.
*Ability to be able to complete the Crisis Prevention Institute training
*Ability to complete additional training as requested
Houry Rate: $21.88 - 27.59
Location: Riverview School
Days worked: 185 days/year (with paid personal time, paid vacation days, and paid time off for holidays and district non-work days such as during winter break and spring breaks)
