Special Education Paraprofessional
Full Time
Experience working with students on the Autism Spectrum and/or students with severe disabilities/global developmental delays required
Experience with Applied Behavioral Analysis/Discrete Trials preferred
De-escalation and Restraint Trained individual preferred
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist classroom teacher and/or special education teacher in delivering student instruction using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis when necessary as well as implement accommodations and/or modifications for students requiring such academic and behavioral supports.
Facilitates student safety utilizing safety protocols including but not limited to proactive de-escalation techniques.
Assist general and special education teachers in collecting data on student progress.
Collaborate with other staff in implementing teaching protocols and behavioral intervention plans.
Support student independence through the acquisition of skills and strategies.
SUPERVISION:
Works under the supervision of certified school personnel and under the general supervision of the assistant principal/principal. The performance of these functions may require the exercise of independent judgment of the Paraprofessional in a range of instructional, supervision and other assigned duties.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Good general health.
• Alert, physically assertive and mobile at all times.
• Lift, push, or pull 50 pounds as required;
• Mobility to regularly walk, stand, stoop, reach, bend and run.
