Job Summary: Westerly Public Schools seeks a highly effective preschool dual certified special educator/early childhood teacher to join our Inclusionary Prekindergarten program. The successful candidate will have the skill set to create a safe learning environment where all students are engaged in learning at their readiness level towards RI Early Learning Standards.
Responsibilities:

Designs and implements instruction that develops communication skills, motor skills, social emotional skills, and academic learning skills.

Provides small group instruction to students to meet their individualized IEP goals.

Ensures compliance with all special education regulations.

Writes and implements goals and objectives consistent with students Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and provides timely and regular progress reports on student development.

Conducts educational evaluations to determine special education eligibility.

Regularly assesses and collects data as needed to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Facilitate and participate in IEP meetings as a core team member, ensuring parents are active participants in the development of goals and objectives for their child.

Provides timely and regular progress reports on student development and adjusts instruction based on regular assessments.

Collaborates as a team member within preschool in supporting other staff members in responding to student's needs.

Supervises paraprofessionals through specific expectations and feedback.

Establish and maintain regular, positive communication with families regarding student progress, achievements, and challenges through multiple channels

Can convey content in creative and engaging ways that align to standards.

Scaffolds and differentiates instruction in order for all students to develop their early learning skills.

Seeks to participate in and contribute to a collaborative adult learning community.

Qualifications:
- Experience:
-
Minimum of five (5) years successful experience in teaching or administration is preferred.

Experience with integrated preschool instruction preferred.
- Education:
-
Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized and accredited college or university.

Master’s Degree in Special Education is preferred.
- Certification & Licensing:
- Must meet the current RI Department of Education requirements for certification in Early Childhood Education and Special Education (Pre-K).
