Summary:
The Behavior Paraprofessional will work at Coloma Elementary School on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to students with behavioral challenges and assisting teachers and staff in implementing behavior management plans.

Responsibilities:
- Work with individual students or small groups to teach and reinforce positive behavior and School safety
- Facilitate restorative conversations with individual students and small groups

-Provide proactive and reactive support for students with behavioral challenges 

-Conduct check-ins at the start of the day, specific transitions, etc.

-Use positive reinforcement to encourage appropriate behavior

- Identify triggers and help students self-regulate before behaviors escalate

- Track student progress and interventions used

- Adjust plans based on data and feedback

-Encourage problem-solving and accountability

-Foster positive connections with students to build trust and motivation

-Supervise lunchroom and recess

- Supervise lunch detention- Assist teachers and staff in implementing behavior management plans and strategies 
- Monitor and document student behavior and progress towards behavior goals
- Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student behavior and progress
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and administrators to develop and implement behavior support plans
- Attend training and professional development opportunities related to behavior management and support
- Perform other duties as assigned by the school administration

Requirements:

-Must have one of the following:

  • Associates Degree
  • 60+ Credits
  • Passed the ETS Paraprofessional Assessment with a core of 460+
  • SAT Score of 480+ (reading & writing) & 530+ (math)
  • Previously passed MTCC, Workkeys, ACT or MME
     

Requirements Continued:

- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in education, psychology, or related field preferred
- Experience working with children or adolescents with behavioral challenges preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and administrators
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding student information
- Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks as needed
- Must pass a background check and drug screening before employment
