Residency Requirements: This position is virtual and strongly prefer residents of Texas. May consider residents of surrounding states (NM, OK, AK or LA). This position could include travel up to 20% of the time for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and/or as required by the school.

The Bilingual Special Education Teacher is responsible for delivering instruction and support services in both English and Spanish to meet the needs of students with disabilities in the Dual Language Immersion Program. The position adapts and modifies curriculum to ensure accessibility in both languages while promoting biliteracy and academic success.

This position offers a base salary around $52,000 plus the eligibility of a performance bonus.

This is a full-time REMOTE position. Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week is required. Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 9-5 (or 8-4) or as defined by the school.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.

  • Provide special education services in a bilingual setting by delivering instruction and support services in both English and Spanish to meet the needs of students with disabilities in the Dual Language Immersion Program to include adapting and modifying curriculum to ensure accessibility in both languages while promoting biliteracy and academic success.
  • Provide specialized instruction and intervention in alignment with students’ IEPs.
  • Utilize assistive technology and other tools to support student learning.
  • Work closely with general education teachers to support inclusion and accommodations.
  • Provide guidance and training to teachers on differentiation strategies and classroom modifications.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, therapists, and administrators regarding student progress.
  • Maintain and submit progress monitoring reports as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field
  • One (1) year of ELL Teacher/Special Education Teacher experience
  • Fluent in Spanish
  • Knowledge of special education laws and regulations, including Section 504 and IDEA
  • Experience with accommodations, modifications, and individualized instruction
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., speech therapists, occupational therapists, behavior specialists)
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft 365 Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
  • Ability to travel 20% of the time
  • Ability to clear required background check

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Experience working in a virtual special education environment.
  • Experience with implementing IEPs in an online setting.
