JOB TITLE:
Paraprofessional
SUMMARY:
The 18–22 year old Transition Program is seeking a dedicated Paraprofessional to support young adults with special needs as they develop independence, life skills, and vocational readiness. Under the supervision of licensed teachers and related service providers, the Paraprofessional will assist with instructional activities, behavior and physical support, and other direct services to help students meet their individual goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Two-year degree, 60+ college credits, or ParaPro Assessment (district covers first test)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and work collaboratively with staff
Commitment to supporting students with special needs respectfully and effectively
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and manage challenging situations calmly
Willingness to be trained in specialized areas (CPI, seizures, feeding, etc.)
Basic computer literacy
HOURS & COMPENSATION:
5.75 hours per school day, plus ½ hour unpaid lunch. Position is part of the AFSCME contract with pay and benefits according to the negotiated schedule.
