The Role
We have long standing content to refresh and new content to create, and we are looking for an expert to ensure accuracy and alignment with today's law, research, and practice. The drafting is handled on our side. Your job is expert review: reading prepared course material and confirming the content is accurate, current, and reflects how the field actually operates today.
You will:
- Review prepared course material in defined sections and flag anything outdated, inaccurate, or missing
- Verify alignment with current federal special education law, major case law, and current diagnostic and prevalence data
- Return each review assignment within an agreed deadline (typically 7 days per assignment)
- Provide edits and flags in writing; drafting corrections is handled on our side
- Potentially advise on the outline and accuracy of 1-2 new course launches
This is a review and sign-off role, not a course authoring role. It rewards deep current knowledge and fast, reliable turnaround.
Compensation
- Paid per completed review assignment, benchmarked at $60-$75 per hour
- Payment issued on completion of each assignment, no long invoicing cycles
- Total engagement estimated at 60-100 hours over 2-3 months, with potential for ongoing review work on a recurring refresh cycle
Requirements
- Doctorate (PhD or EdD) in special education or a closely related field
- Current working knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and major post-2017 case law
- Strong command of IEP composition, from present levels through measurable goals and services
- Working knowledge of general administrative compliance in special education (procedural safeguards, timelines, documentation, notice requirements)
- Familiarity with current DSM-5-TR categories and current federal prevalence data
- Ability to commit to firm turnaround deadlines for the length of the contract
- Strong written feedback skills; you flag precisely, with sources
Preferred: university teaching or faculty experience, prior curriculum or program review work, or experience preparing practitioners for certification or licensure.
Structure
Independent contractor (1099). Work is remote and asynchronous on your schedule, as long as deadlines are met. Selected candidates will complete one paid test review ($150, one section, 5-day turnaround) before the full engagement begins.
