The Park Rapids School District is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Century Lower Elementary. The ideal candidate will work with students with diverse learning needs, focusing on early childhood special education (ECSE) to provide individualized instruction and support. This full-time position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young learners while collaborating with families, educators, and support staff to create an inclusive and nurturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.
- Assess students' academic and social-emotional progress, using data to inform instruction and adapt teaching strategies.
- Create and maintain a positive and structured classroom environment that fosters learning and encourages student engagement.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to ensure the successful integration of students into the classroom.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress, share strategies for support at home, and address any concerns.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student needs and coordinate services.
- Provide direct instruction in academic, social, and life skills, utilizing a variety of teaching methods and materials.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance, IEP goals, and communication with families.
- Stay current with best practices in special education and participate in professional development opportunities.
- Foster a culture of respect, diversity, and inclusion within the classroom and school community.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Valid state teaching license in Special Education, with endorsement in Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE).
- Experience working with young children with disabilities, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators, specialists, and families.
- Proficient in using technology and educational software to enhance instruction and support student learning.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students with diverse needs succeed.
