    Position/Title:  Paraprofessional 

     

    Reports To:  Classroom Teacher/Principal 

     

    Primary Function:  The paraprofessional is a support staff position working under the supervision of the classroom teacher( s ). The paraprofessional has some decision making authority limited and regulated by board policy and state law. 

     

    Qualifications:  

     

    Meet one of the following requirements:
    1. Hold an associate's degree or higher in any subject from a GaPSC-accepted accredited institution.
    2. Have completed two (2) years of college coursework (sixty [60] semester hours) above the remedial level with a grade of "C" or better at a GaPSC-accepted accredited institution.
    3. Have passed the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment and hold a minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

     

    *Applicants will be asked to provide a transcript or copy of the high school diploma for licensure.  If candidiate attended college, a college transcript will  be need for licensure instead of the high school diploma. *

    Duties: 

     
    • Maintains a pattern of prompt and regular attendance and performs all duties as assigned effectively and efficiently.

    • Shall exhibit a professional attitude and demeanor at all times in dealing with the board, school administration, fellow employees, parents, students and the public.

    • Conduct small group or individual classroom activities based on lesson plans developed by the teacher.

    • Assist with supervision of students.

    • Assist with student assessment, grading work and tests, and collecting data on student progress.

    • Participate in class field trips.

    • Assist with routine record keeping.

    • Assist with the preparation of materials for instruction (including copying/duplication of materials, construction of displays/bulletin boards, learning centers and manipulatives).

    • Locate, operate and return needed equipment.

    •  Assist with classroom housekeeping.

    • Assist in the ordering and inventory of classroom equipment and materials.

    • Assist with school wide supervision, such as cafeteria monitoring and loading/unloading buses.

    • Perform other duties as assigned.
