    LOCATION:  Elementary Schools
    FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
    POSITION GOAL:  Support the Pupil Services and Special Education departments by providing additional support to students with identified needs.

    Starting at $18.00 per hour*. Part-time positions are available from 5.75 hours per day; full-time, benefit-eligible positions are available 6.5 hours per day.
     
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent the minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill, and /or ability necessary.
    1. High School Degree required; **Bachelor’s Degree, Associate's Degree or at least 28 college credits preferred.**
      1. Candidates without the preferred level of education will need to complete PA Department of Education’s Credential of Competency within the first 90 days of their employment. 
    2. Effective interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and a desire to work with children.
    3. Strong organizational skills.
    4. Computer literate, including a working knowledge of email use and Google Products.
    5. Current certification in First Aid and CPR is preferred.
    6. Submission of PA School Personnel Health form.
    7. Current Act 34, Act 151 and Act 114 clearances.
     ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Assist with the implementation of individual and group instruction, testing and assessment procedures as directed by the cooperating special education teacher.
    2. Assist the special education teacher in the care and management of students in the classroom and other areas, such as special subject areas, the lunchroom, the playground, and bus duty.
    3. Assist in preparing instructional and classroom materials when requested.
    4. Assist students by reading questions, passages from text, and tests following the teacher’s instructions.
    5. Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans(IEPs) for students and monitor their progress.
      1. Assist with the collection of data relevant to students’ needs and IEP goals (academic, behavioral, functional skills).
      2. Maintain accurate student data and records, as well as communication with the case manager/special education teacher on the student’s performance in the general education setting. 
      3. Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of the facilitator and classroom teachers.
      4. **Assist skills related to personal and social self-sufficiency, which may include but are not limited to toileting, feeding, and personal hygiene. **
      5. **Support students with emotional or behavioral concerns and assist them in developing appropriate social skills.**

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    1. 183 days per year; 5.75 OR 6.5 hours per day
    2. Starting at $18.00/ hour or $18.50/ hour with a Bachelor's Degree or Higher*
    3. Salary and benefits according to the negotiated agreement between the Board of School Directors and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 384.
