Qualifications: Requires 60 college semester hours or 90 college quarter hours (approximately 2 years of study) or an equivalent associates degree or pass the Paraprofessional Assessment Test Additional qualifications if required by Federal Legislation |
Performance Duties & Responsibilities: To perform under the general supervision of the classroom teacher. Conduct small group or individual classroom activities based on the lesson plans developed by the teacher. Assist with supervision of students. Assist with student assessments, grading work and tests, and collecting data on student progress. Assist with routine record keeping. Assist with the preparation of materials for instruction (including the copying/duplicating of materials, construction of displays/bulletin boards, learning center, and manipulatives). Locate, operate and return needed equipment. Assist in ordering and inventory of classroom equipment and materials. Assist with classroom housekeeping. Assist with school wide supervision. Maintain Paraprofessional Certificate and complete required professional learning hours. Assist students with toileting/hygiene when needed. Maintain reasonable discipline and refer problems to supervising teachers when necessary. Any other duties assigned by the teacher and/or school administrators. Other Functions: Daily attendance and punctuality are required to ensure the goals of the work unit are met. |
Working Environment: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling. Generally, the job requires 65% walking/standing, 25% sitting and 10% lifting/carrying. |
