Overview
The Gifted and Talented (GT) Program Coordinator is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, and evaluating services and instructional programs for identified gifted and talented students. The GT Coordinator supports teachers, administrators, and parents in implementing best practices and compliance with federal, state, and district requirements
Essential Duties
- Program Development & Compliance
- Oversee the identification, placement, and service of GT students in accordance with state and district guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with local and state policies (e.g., Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented Students).
- Develop and update GT program goals, curriculum frameworks, and evaluation processes.
- Professional Learning
- Provide training and support to teachers on differentiating instruction for GT students.
- Organize ongoing professional development opportunities in gifted education and instructional strategies.
- Support campus GT leads or liaisons with guidance and resources.
- Student Services & Advocacy
- Collaborate with teachers to ensure GT students receive appropriate instruction and enrichment.
- Monitor student progress and recommend adjustments or additional supports.
- Serve as an advocate for gifted students’ academic and social-emotional needs.
- Communication & Community Engagement
- Maintain regular communication with parents, staff, and community stakeholders about GT programming.
- Organize parent informational meetings and support groups as needed.
- Respond to parent concerns and facilitate resolution.
- Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate records and data for reporting and evaluation.
- Prepare reports for district leadership, school boards, and state audits.
- Manage GT budget, resources, and instructional materials.
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
- Minimum 3–5 years teaching experience, preferably with gifted students
- Strong knowledge of gifted education theory, research, and instructional practices
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions
- Proficiency in technology and digital learning tools
- Must reside in Texas and be available during standard Central Time working hours
- Must be available to provide STAAR testing in person within Texas as needed
- Experience in program coordination or instructional leadership (preferred)
Education & Certification Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in education or related field (required)
- Master’s degree in Gifted Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or Educational Leadership (preferred) or Advanced Degree.
- 30 hour core GT Gifted/Talented training or endorsement or certification (required or as per state requirement)
