    Reports to: Campus Principal and Director of Special Education

    Position Overview

    Greenville ISD is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Read 180 Special Education Teacher to provide specialized reading instruction and intervention for students receiving special education services. This position supports students with reading difficulties through evidence-based instructional practices designed to improve literacy skills, academic performance, and student confidence.

    Primary Purpose

    Provide specialized reading instruction and intervention using the Read 180 program for students receiving special education services in accordance with the Texas Education Agency (TEA), Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), district curriculum, and student Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

    Qualifications

    Education and Certification:

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
    • Valid Texas teaching certificate with Special Education certification required
    • ESL certification preferred
    • Must meet all TEA certification and assignment requirements

    Special Knowledge and Skills:

    • Knowledge of reading intervention strategies and literacy instruction
    • Knowledge of the Read 180 instructional program preferred
    • Knowledge of special education laws, accommodations, and IEP implementation
    • Ability to provide individualized and small-group instruction
    • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
    • Ability to analyze student performance data and monitor progress
    • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism

    Experience:

    • Experience working with students with reading deficits and intervention programs preferred
    • Experience in special education services preferred

    Major Responsibilities and Duties

    Instruction and Intervention

    • Provide specialized reading instruction using the Read 180 program and district-approved intervention strategies
    • Deliver instruction aligned with student IEPs, accommodations, and intervention plans
    • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning needs
    • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on data and performance

    Student Support and Compliance

    • Implement accommodations and modifications as outlined in student IEPs
    • Maintain accurate student records, progress monitoring data, and required documentation
    • Participate in ARD meetings, intervention meetings, and campus support meetings as assigned
    • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to support student success across instructional settings

    Classroom Environment

    • Maintain a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment
    • Promote student engagement, confidence, and academic growth
    • Reinforce appropriate student behavior and expectations

    Collaboration and Communication

    • Work collaboratively with campus administration, special education staff, intervention personnel, teachers, and parents
    • Communicate student progress and instructional recommendations effectively
    • Support campus literacy and intervention initiatives

    Professional Responsibilities

    • Participate in professional development and required district training
    • Maintain compliance with district, state, and federal regulations
    • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures
    • Perform other duties as assigned by campus administration or the Director of Special Education

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    • Supervise assigned instructional aides or paraprofessionals as applicable
