Health Care Paraprofessional-Center Based Learning

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the administrators, the paraprofessional is responsible for providing health support to a student 

Qualifications:

Required:

1.Possess an associate’s (or higher) degree or completed two years of study at an institution of higher education or completed ETS ParaPro Assessment.  This is within the guidelines for the requirements for the Every Student Succeeds Act.

2.Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and proven organizational skills

3.Demonstrated success as a collaborator and proven team player

4.Demonstrated successful communication skills with students, staff, parent and community

Desired Characteristics:

1. Previous experience working with children with health care needs
2. Knowledge of diabetes or willing to be trained
3. CPR & first aid certified or willing to be certified
4. Experience using technology 

Duties:

1. Ability to perform health care procedures as directed by IEP & student health care plan
2. Assist student in classroom
3. Basic first aid, assist giving medications & assist with diabetic related care
4. Maintain student information
5. Work independently and cooperatively with administrators and teachers
6. Ability to plan and organize; good work habits
7. Willing to participate in professional development
8. Perform other duties as assigned by administration
