POSITION: WORK-BASED LEARNING COACH PARAPROFESSIONAL

REQUIREMENTS:
Fingerprint/background check required.
CPR and First Aid certifications required.
High school diploma or GED required; some college coursework in education, special education, or a related field preferred.
Experience working with individuals with disabilities, preferably in an educational or vocational setting.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Strong time management and multitasking skills.
Ability/willingness to become certified to drive district vehicles and small activity bus.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The following statements of essential functions and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of all personnel within this position. Actual duties and responsibilities may vary depending on building assignment and other factors determined with supervisor and/or building principal.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Actively seek and build partnerships with local businesses and organizations for potential job placements and internships.
Accompany students to job sites and provide hands-on guidance to help them understand and complete assigned tasks.
Monitor and assist students in adhering to workplace expectations, safety procedures, and professional behaviors.
Support classroom instruction by assisting individual students or small groups with learning activities, assignments, and skill development under the direction of the classroom teacher.
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment by reinforcing behavioral expectations, supporting student engagement, and promoting independence.
Collaborate with teachers and staff to implement accommodations, monitor student progress, and provide feedback to ensure academic and social success.
Serve as a liaison between employers, teachers, and students to ensure effective communication and job performance.
Provide individualized coaching to students in areas such as communication, time management, teamwork, and other work-related skills.
Help students identify their strengths and areas for improvement, offering constructive feedback and strategies for growth.
Assist in resume building, interview practice, and job application processes.
Prepare students for potential challenges in the workplace, helping them learn coping strategies and how to ask for assistance when needed.
Implement behavior intervention strategies as outlined in the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).
Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging a supportive and motivating environment.
Record daily observations and data regarding student progress, attendance, and job performance.
Provide regular updates to teachers, counselors, and program coordinators on student success and any issues that arise.
Collaborate with teachers, transition specialists, and vocational rehabilitation counselors to create and implement student work plans.
Engage in regular meetings with school staff and employers to adjust strategies for student success.
Assist students with transportation arrangements to and from job sites when necessary.
Teach students how to navigate public transportation or other transportation services if part of the job training process.
Promote the inclusion of students with disabilities in community and work environments.
Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with individuals with disabilities.
Basic knowledge of workplace safety standards and professional conduct.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
May require frequent travel between school, work sites, and community locations.
Work hours are based on student schedules, with potential for flexible or irregular hours.
Physical demands include standing, walking, and occasional lifting of materials or equipment related to job tasks.
Ability to navigate various work environments, including outdoor and indoor job sites.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 181 day calendar
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt Classified
