LOCATION: Fairview School District/Student’s Home
POSITION TITLE: Instruction Conducted in the Home Special Education Teacher (Between 10-20 hours per week to include planning time or hours determined by the IEP team).
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Pennsylvania certification: In Special Education (N-12) or (PreK-8)
- Experience with working with students with disabilities
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education/Building Level Administration
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement Special Education student Individual Education Plans (IEPs) according to PDE regulations reflecting Pennsylvania State Standards.
- Help develop and collaborate with the necessary staff for upcoming Re-Evaluation Reports according to PDE regulations.
- Implement an instructional program for assigned students and show written evidence of sessions and preparation as required
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
- Demonstrate a variety of teaching methods and techniques that motivate students to perform at their optimum ability level.
- Display skill in working with regular education teachers in the area of differentiated instruction so that special education needs can be addressed in this environment.
- Partner with general education staff to provide needed adaptations and/or accommodations to the general education curriculum.
- Maintain frequent, positive written and verbal contacts with parents, teachers and administrators regarding program issues and student progress.
- Participate in school-wide committees fostering school safety and character development.
- Participate in professional organizations and professional staff development activities to remain current and to ensure continued growth in the field of Special Education.
- Demonstrate appropriate use of classroom management techniques.
- Communicate sound behavior management strategies to regular education teachers and parents via in-services, open house, individual meetings, and printed material.
- Work cooperatively with all special education and regular education staff and paraprofessionals to provide quality programming for our special education students, addressing individual needs in all learning environments.
- Adhere to all district policies and procedures, maintaining professionalism at all times.
- Obtain and maintain all necessary training in the area of Handle With Care (HWC), PANS, and/or other related disability areas
- Demonstrate the ability to provide individualized reading instruction to students below grade level using a researched based program (i.e. - Wilson Reading System).
SALARY: Per F.E.A. Contract (Hourly Rate)
