Job Goal: To provide educational leadership through the Chandler Unified School District curriculum and to facilitate learning that challenges and supports all students in an equitable and safe environment and that meets the District mission and vision.
Qualifications:
- Arizona Teaching Certificate – Early Childhood Special Education
- AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Minimum 2 years of teaching as an early childhood special education teacher
- Appropriate approved areas/ endorsements maybe required depending on area of instruction
- Knowledge of computer applications
Job Duties:
- Deliver IEP-focused consultation services to preschool teachers in early learning settings within district preschool classrooms and Head Start programs
- Deliver consultation services with an emphasis on transferring knowledge and skills to partner teachers.
- Consultants will be expected to assist partners in determining the mode and intensity of instruction that will be necessary to appropriately address children’s IEP goals, as well as when and where, within typical routines, to address these IEP objectives.
- Assist partners in learning how to apply effective teaching strategies to address children’s IEP goals through modeling, creating, or securing step-by-step explanations of how to use these strategies, and checking with partners to ensure that they understand and use these strategies correctly in addressing IEP goals
- Assist partners in monitoring children’s responses to selected teaching strategies, and modifying or replacing strategies when they are not effective
- Assist partners in becoming more active participants of the IEP team
- Apply recommended interpersonal communications skills in developing and supporting the development of partnerships with other adults/professionals who provide direct services to children with IEPs
- Manage a caseload of children with IEPs attending a variety of preschool programs located within the district
- Maintain records that indicate the focus and outcomes of consultation visits and consultation communications
- Maintain appropriate records that document travel to and between consulting sites, from a home base
- Maintain records that indicate the locations and duration of consulting service delivery
- Maintain records that demonstrate leadership in analyzing IEP goals, planning for embedding teaching opportunities within typical routines in the early learning setting, systematic efforts to transfer relevant knowledge and skills to the partner, and monitoring of child response to selected teaching strategies.
- Maintain records that demonstrate efficient planning of consultation visits, effective and periodic communication with partners, program supervisors, and parents of children about the effect of coaching on child progress, and summarize the outcomes of consultation activity
- Maintains accurate, complete, legible and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation
- Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
- Basic Knowledge of computers, software and applications
- Meeting any additional specific job requirements as indicated by the District
