Job Title: K-5 Special Education Teacher  Department: Elementary School Start Date: August 13, 2026 Reports to: Elementary School Principal Salary Range: Based on salary scale as agreed upon between GCVS and AFT Massachusetts, AFL-CIO GCVS Professional Staff. $57,443.30 to $93,722.31 Position Summary: The K-5 Special Education Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality, specialized instruction to students with diverse learning needs in the GCVS virtual environment. This role focuses on implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), fostering an inclusive virtual classroom culture, and ensuring that all students have equitable access to the K-5 curriculum. The teacher works collaboratively with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to support student growth, wellness, and academic achievement. Duties and Responsibilities:  ? Deliver specially designed instruction aligned with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. ? Draft, implement, and monitor IEPs, including setting measurable goals and providing quarterly progress reports. ? Facilitate annual IEP meetings and contribute to three-year re-evaluations. ? Modify and adapt general education digital modules to ensure accessibility for all learners. ? Utilize data-driven instruction to adjust teaching strategies based on individual student performance and assessments. ? Promote a sense of belonging and community using district-approved platforms. ? Proactively engage students who may face barriers to participation in a remote setting. ? Collaborate with appropriate GCVS staff to co-teach and support students in inclusive settings. ? Maintain frequent and professional communication with parents/guardians regarding student milestones and challenges. ? Participate in the Massachusetts Educator Evaluation Framework and engage in ongoing professional development. Valid Massachusetts DESE license in Special Education (Moderate Disabilities PreK-8). ? Bachelor’s degree in Education/Special Education required; Master’s degree preferred. ? Experience: 3-5 years of teaching experience preferred, with specific experience in elementary education. ? Technical Proficiency: Ability to quickly learn and navigate virtual platforms (e.g., Schoology, eSped, PowerSchool, Google Suite, various teaching tools, etc.). ? Physical/Travel: Ability to operate a computer for lengthy periods. Location Preference: Applicants residing in the Massachusetts area are strongly preferred, with the ability to travel to locations across the state and attend GCVS events as needed.
