QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED.
Must have one of the following:
48 College Credit Hours
Associate Degree
Passed OGET Test

Obtained a National Career Readiness Certificate through successful completion of the ACT WorkKeys assessment
Demonstrates aptitude for the work to be performed.
Demonstrates a positive attitude toward a school environment.
Reasonable degree of proficiency in typing.
Working knowledge of basic office procedures and the operation of common office equipment (which includes computer skills).
Must pass a National Criminal History Record Check.

REPORTS TO: Library Media Specialist, Building Administrator
JOB GOAL: To assist teachers and students in the effective use of the media center as a learning resource.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Types and process reports, bibliographies, forms, library schedules, letters to publishers, catalog cards and the like.
Orders and receives books selected by the librarian.
Supervisors student media assistants, assigning various tasks. (High School and Middle School)
Maintains files of catalog cards, vertical file material, publisher’s catalogs, and other appropriate files.
Types notices to teachers concerning overdue books under the supervision of the librarian.
Makes simple repairs on damaged books.
Prepares current magazines for shelving and maintains the back-number stacks.
Assists in the annual inventory of library materials, and the preparation of lists of missing books and books to be discarded.
Shelves returned materials.
Maintains current inventory of supplies and suggests items for acquisition as needed.
Oversees the general neatness and attractiveness of the library and its displays.
Maintains inventory and repair records for A-V Equipment, under the supervision of the librarian.
Runs circulation desk, including computer reports and weekly backup.
Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the librarian may assign from time to time.
Assists students in locating research material and use of microfiche and computers.
Assists students in making proper use of center equipment and materials.
Pull books for teachers as requested for units of study.
Distributes schedule of the use of the media center and its materials and equipment.
Operates equipment and apparatus on request, either in the media center or elsewhere.
Performs other related tasks as directed by the Media Specialist.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to the public and other employees of the organization.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to cooperate in a team effort with other employees.
