Long-term (1 year) Special Education Teacher

  • Reports To: Middle School Principal
  • Plan lessons that meet the individual needs and abilities of the students
  • Conduct/participate in the IEP annual review
  • Write IEPs (accommodations, modifications, goals, etc) following state and federal regulations
  • Implement a variety of instructional strategies consistent with goals and objectives outlined in students’ IEPs.
  • Write progress reports for student IEPs.
  • Ensure compliance with all IEP components
  • Develop, collect, and analyze data collection for progress monitoring
  • Case management for students on the liaison list (including developing individualized student schedules, when appropriate
  • Academic coordination and consultation with general education teachers
  • Within a variety of settings, provide teamed, small group, or individualized instruction and/or academic support according to the general and specific goals outlined in students' individualized educational plans
  • Collaborate and co-plan with grade-level content teachers and service providers
  • Ability to communicate specifics of individualized programs to all staff and provide consultation/training of programs
  • Create a learning environment that is conducive to learning through consistent and proactive behavior management implementation
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and other team members
  • Other related duties as assigned
