General Definition of Work
Performs administrative support work assisting classroom teachers with the preparation and setting up of classroom and learning materials, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Teacher.

Essential Functions
Assists classroom teacher with students academic, physical and behavioral needs; implements Individualized Education Plan goals.
Work with individuals or small groups to reinforce material introduced by the Teacher; modifies student assignments as needed.
Assists with various assignments and tasks associated with student needs; ensures student's assigned work is completed and returned.
Performs various office and clerical assistance tasks for the Teacher.
Guides independent study and other work assigned by the Teacher.
Assists with non-instructional duties including cleaning, copying, posting on bulletin boards, etc.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of standard policies practices and procedures dealing with early childhood or family classroom teaching; general knowledge of classroom teaching practices, methods and techniques; thorough skill operating standard office equipment, hardware and software; general skill compiling information and creating basic records or reports; general skills using classroom and instructional equipment; ability to maintain confidential files and information and to compile reports; ability to deal effectively with students, parents and teachers; ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, parents, students and the general public.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associates/Technical degree preferred.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing, frequently requires sitting and occasionally requires standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle or feel, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
