Saratoga School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Licensed Teacher to cover a maternity leave in our Autism classroom. This leave will run from December 21, 2026 - March 12, 2027. This position is ideal for an educator who is committed to fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment for students with diverse emotional and behavioral needs. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with staff, families, and community resources to ensure that each student receives the individualized support necessary for academic and social success.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Create a positive and structured classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing timely feedback and adjusting instructional methods as needed.
- Collaborate with special education staff, counselors, and other professionals to support students' emotional and behavioral development.
- Maintain effective communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and behavioral issues.
- Implement behavioral management techniques and interventions to promote positive behavior and conflict resolution.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with best practices in special education.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and behavioral incidents in compliance with school policies.
- Actively contribute to a positive school culture and community by participating in school events and initiatives.
Requirements
- Valid teaching license in Special Education.
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience working with students with emotional and behavioral challenges in an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation, as well as knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for supporting students with diverse needs.
