Norris School District is accepting internal applications for a Middle School Special Education Teacher serving students in grades 6–8 for the 2026–2027 school year. This position provides specialized instruction, case management, and collaborative support to ensure students with disabilities experience academic and social-emotional growth in alignment with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Position Overview
The Middle School Special Education Teacher delivers direct and indirect services, supports inclusive practices, and works closely with general education teachers, related service providers, and families. This role requires strong instructional skills, compliance knowledge, and a commitment to student-centered practices.
Qualifications
- Valid Nebraska teaching certificate
- Appropriate Special Education endorsement (or ability to obtain)
- Knowledge of Nebraska Rule 51 and Rule 10 requirements
- Experience with IEP development, progress monitoring, and collaborative service delivery preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialized instruction aligned to IEP goals
- Serve as case manager for assigned students
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs
- Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet diverse needs
- Collaborate with general education staff to support inclusive practices
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
- Communicate effectively with families and multidisciplinary team members
- Participate in MTSS and building-level problem-solving teams
