Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Oakville Elementary School for the 2026/2027 school year. The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs and will create an inclusive and nurturing environment that fosters academic growth and social development. This full-time position involves collaborating with educators, parents, and support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique abilities and challenges.

Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet the needs of students.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in a variety of settings, including the classroom, resource room, and during inclusion activities.
- Assess and evaluate students’ progress, adjusting instructional methods and materials as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress, documenting interventions and outcomes.
- Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and caregivers about student progress and strategies for support at home.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and collaborate with specialists, including speech therapists, occupational therapists, and psychologists.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, understanding, and empathy among students.
- Stay informed about current trends and best practices in special education and participate in professional development opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding special education services.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid state teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, preferably in an elementary school setting.
- Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and special education laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning.
