Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team at Saginaw Township Community Schools as a Paraprofessional. In this full-time position, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to enhance the educational experience for students. Your role will involve providing assistance to students in a variety of settings, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment.
POSITION OVERVIEW
This position is 6 hours daily, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch during regular school days.
Daily work schedule is based on building assignments.
Total number of workdays may vary based on building assignment with ranges between 184-186 per school year (August - May).
Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and classroom activities.
- Provide individualized support to students, including those with special needs.
- Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to teachers.
- Help maintain a safe and organized classroom environment.
- Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and classroom displays.
- Facilitate small group or one-on-one instruction as needed.
- Support students during transitions between classes and activities.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to address student needs and concerns.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
- Uphold school policies and procedures while fostering a respectful and inclusive atmosphere.
* Apart from general education, assignments may include working with students in programs for Cognitive Impairment (CI), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), or Emotional Impairment (EI). Please note that throughout the school year, placement and/or assignments may change to accommodate the needs of the building and district.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher preferred.
- Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in helping students succeed.
- Basic knowledge of educational practices and child development principles.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software.
- Willingness to undergo background checks and comply with school district policies.
- Certification as a paraprofessional or willingness to obtain certification within a specified timeframe is preferred.
Compensation & Benefits:
An additional $0.80/hour for achieving 60 or more semester credit hours (college).

This position is part of the State of Michigan Public School Employee Retirement System (MPSERS)
