Qualifications:

  • Associated Degree or higher
  • Experience working with students with Autism and/or implementing ABA strategies highly preferred
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development

Overview:
Wakefield Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessional to join the STRIVE Program. STRIVE is a program serving students with Autism through highly individualized, evidence-based instruction rooted in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). The STRIVE Program is supported by a BCBA, a lead special education teacher, and a team of paraprofessionals who collaborate closely to implement high-quality instruction using the ACE ABA Software System developed by the New England Center for Children (NECC). The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to student growth, teamwork, and inclusive practices.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instructional and behavioral support to students under the supervision of the special education teacher and BCBA
  • Assist in implementing students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including accommodations, modifications, and behavior support plans
  • Support the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems and other communication strategies
  • Model and promote appropriate social interactions and facilitate peer engagement
  • Collect and record data on student progress, behavior, and performance using program tools and protocols
  • Assist students with daily living skills, including toileting, hygiene, and feeding, as needed
  • Contribute to a positive, safe, and structured classroom environment
  • Collaborate with team members, including special educators, therapists, and other paraprofessionals, to meet individual student needs
  • Support generalization of skills across settings, including during inclusion opportunities in general education
  • Prepare and organize classroom materials and reinforce instruction during small-group or one-on-one activities
  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Reports to: Building Principal

Compensation: $31,004-$37,147  (this position is eligible for a $1,200 stipend in addition to daily rate on salary scale)
