Kaleidoscope Academy (KA) is a project-based, arts integrated charter school that offers students a voice and choice in their learning and elective classes. We focus on the whole-child and value social-emotional learning. We are a 6-8 middle school that engages young adolescents in their learning through inquiry-based projects and personalized learning with the assistance of dedicated, passionate staff. Kaleidoscope Academy:
Delivers curriculum through inquiry-based activities and projects arranged in interdisciplinary teaching teams
Facilitates the use of 21st Century Skills (Creativity and Innovation, Communication and Collaboration, Research and Information Fluency, Critical Thinking, Problem-Solving and Decision Making, Digital Citizenship, Technology Operations and Concepts) as established by the International Society of Technology Educators (ISTE)
Utilizes best practices for adolescent learners as recommended by This We Believe (AMLE)
Promotes lifelong learning
Differentiates instruction to meet the individual needs of students
Offers expanded curricular choices for individual interest through elective course selections in fine arts and technology
We are looking for a passionate, student-centered educator who is willing to do what it takes to meet the needs of our diverse students. We want someone who is creative, willing to take risks and make mistakes, reflective, and collaborative. This individual will be working with students with disabilities, most often students with emotional/behavioral disabilities.
We are looking for open-minded, student-centered, creative individuals who are willing to meet students where they are at in order to best serve their diverse needs. We are looking for individuals who will try new things, are not afraid to make mistakes, and are reflective and willing to grow as educators and professional staff. We value restorative practices, trauma informed practices, and focus on student social-emotional learning. We want people who enjoy working with middle school students and who understand and acknowledge the unique nuances of the adolescent brain. We need certified educators or educators who are willing to earn their emergency license to fulfill our vacancy.
KA has an 11 period bell schedule, beginning at 7:50 each day running until 3:20. Each full time educator at KA has 6 forty-minute periods of teaching per day, a half an hour lunch, and a total of two hours prep time. During this prep time, you are able to collaborate with necessary staff to best meet the needs of your students. There are many opportunities to get involved here at KA outside of the school day and these opportunities are paid (coaching, leading a co-curricular club/intramurals, Boys and Girls Club, sports supervision, etc.). Once a month we have a full professional learning day where we focus on KA initiatives and priorities, as well as allowing time for cross-district collaboration, committee meetings, and staff meetings.
