We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team at New Haven Elementary as a Paraprofessional. This full-time position is designed for someone who is passionate about supporting students in a general education setting and/or special education. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and staff to enhance the educational experience for all students, ensuring they receive the support they need to succeed academically and socially.

Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in the implementation of lesson plans and classroom activities.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students as directed by the teacher.
- Help maintain a positive and productive classroom environment by managing student behavior and facilitating engagement.
- Support students with special needs, ensuring they have access to the curriculum and necessary accommodations.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers regarding student performance and behavior.
- Assist with administrative tasks, such as preparing instructional materials and maintaining student records.
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to promote student success and well-being.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the role.
- Uphold school policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and respectful learning environment for all students.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or higher in education and if the person does not hold an associates degree, will become highly qualified through the Paraprofessional standardized testing within 3 months of being hired.
- Previous experience working with high school students, particularly in an educational setting, is strongly preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take direction from teachers and administrators.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students succeed.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
- Knowledge of classroom management techniques and strategies for supporting diverse learners.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Must pass background checks as required by school district policies.

Reports to:  Building Principal 

Salary:  Salary is in accordance with the New Haven Schools Para-professional Association/MEA and the New Have Board of Education 

Candidate must pass background check. 

Position is open currently for the 2025-2026 school year.
