Paraprofessional/Educational Aide

General Description:

Provide educational support including tutoring, classroom management, organization of materials, and computer assistance for students under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide assistance for students when requested by the student or supervising teacher.
  • Is familiar and consistently adheres to the WCESC Policy Handbook, District Code of Conduct, classroom routine and structure and each student's Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • As requested, will assist classroom teacher and related service providers in the development, implementation, and documentation of student's behavior plans and IEP goals and objectives.
  • Assist student(s) participating in general education classes.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a role model for students on how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings;
  • Helps instill in students the believe in practice of ethical principals and democratic values; and
  • Conducts other duties related to the paraprofessional’s duties as assigned by the supervisor, principal, and / or the local superintendent of schools.

ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, tissue.
  • Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions.
  • Occasion interaction among unruly children.
