    Hours: 5 hours per week

    Reports to: Building Principal

    Purpose: In cooperation with the Teacher Librarian, this person with assist by working with individual students or small groups to achieve academic skills and support Library services. May also assist with supervision, clerical duties, set up and cleanup of activities, or other tasks to support the teacher and students.

    Essential Functions:
    1. Work with students or small groups of students to deliver and /or reinforce academic skills such as iReady, RAZ Kids, Imagine learning.
    2. Distribute and collect Library materials as requested by the Teacher Librarian.
    3. Assist with supervision of groups of students and individual students as needed.
    4. Work cooperatively with the teacher librarian to ensure the effective running of the library.
    5. Communicate with office staff as needed or requested.
    6. Assist with the repair, processing, and shelving of books.
    7. Assist with the check-in and out of library materials.
    8. Assist teacher librarian with school communications (i.e. newsletter, reader boards, website, etc.)
    9. Support student library groups like school news, Geek Squad, yearbook, etc.
    10. Other related duties as assigned.

    Professional Qualifications:
    1. High school diploma or equivalent required AND 72 quarter/ 48 semester credits OR AA/AS degree OR pass the state exam for paraprofessionals.
    2. Instructional paraprofessionals, as defined by the state per WAC 179-01-020, are required to complete the Fundamental Course of Study and General Certificate per the state guidelines.
    3. Experience working with children, preferably in an academic environment.
    4. Demonstrated academic proficiency comparable to grade level and subject area assignment.
    5. Acquire and maintain first aid/CPR certification.
    6. Basic computer skills to include MS Office software.

    Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
    1. Stand for long periods of time.
    2. Stoop, bend, walk, run.
    3. Work in noisy environments.
    4. Physically assist students.
    5. Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
