Paraprofessional Emergency Substitute
I. General Description
In the absence of the classroom teacher, the paraprofessional provides instruction, encourages student progress, and manages the learning environment as assigned
II. Qualifications
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of the paraeducator assessment, 60 college credit hours (100 level or higher), or an Associate's Degree
- Must possess a valid AZ emergency substitute certificate
- Must possess a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance card
- General clerical experience (preferred)
- Prior experience working with children is (preferred)
- Must be able to push, pull, or lift weights of at least 30 pounds
- Must be proficient in the use of the English language, both verbal and written (preferred)
III. Duties and Responsibilities
- Follows professional practices consistent with the school district policies in working with students, parents, and staff
- Maintains a discipline and classroom that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with district policies
- Ensures adequate supervision to assure the health, welfare, and safety of all students
- Reports to the office upon arrival at school; checks mailboxes of absent teacher for materials requiring immediate attention; obtain duty schedules; requests clarification of school rules and procedures
- Implement lesson plans, while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner that motivates students to learn and participate
- Reports all students' injuries, accidents, illness, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as s reasonably possible.

- Performs other related duties as assigned by the building administrator(s) in accordance with school/district policies
Reports to: Building Administrator
Terms of Employment: 10 Months, 40 hours/week
