Paraprofessional - ESS Contracted, 2025-2026

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of a certified classroom teacher and/or school administrator, ESS paraprofessionals supplement student education and assist with instruction, behavior management, and/or administrative duties. They support the physical, behavioral, and academic needs of a group of students or on a one-to-one basis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Minimum high school diploma/GED or higher.
2. Has met all requirements for designation of "Highly Qualified" status or willing to meet the requirements:
• complete 2 years of study at an institution of higher learning OR
• obtain an associate's degree OR
• meet a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate, through a formal state of local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics
3. CPR, AED, and First Aide certification preferred.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES   

1. May serve as a paraprofessional with direct supervision of students.  
2. May serve as a classroom teacher when there is no substitute teacher.
3. May serve as a Special Ed paraprofessional.
4. Demonstrate professionalism through prompt and regular attendance as well as appropriate attire.
