    Paraprofessionals must meet one of the following qualifications:
    1. Have 2 years of college credits or
    2. Have a college degree or
    3. Pass the ParaPro Praxis Assessment with a score of 457 or higher or the Idaho Paraprofessional Testing Alternative with a score of 75% or higher. Idaho Paraprofessional Testing Alternative testing dates are offered at the school district throughout the year to West Ada Paraprofessional applicants. The test should be passed within 90 days of hire.

    PURPOSE

     

    To serve as a flexible team member to provide consistent classroom coverage and system-level instructional support across the school. This role helps maintain high-quality instruction and a positive learning environment by stepping in to support coverage needs and instructional priorities as they arise. Assignments and responsibilities will be determined by campus administration using real-time, data-driven decisions to address the evolving academic and operational needs of the school.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES

     

    · To support continuity of student learning by providing classroom instruction and supervision when classroom coverage is needed using provided lesson plans.

     

    · Instruct students by following the plan left by the absent teacher. This instruction may include lecture, demonstration, discussions, projects, practical activities, experiments, assignments and other methods.

     

    · Maintain a structured, engaging, and safe learning environment aligned with schoolwide behavioral and academic expectations.

     

    · Maintain established classroom routines and procedures.

     

    · Collaborate with administration and instructional teams to support targeted student interventions, small group instruction, or classroom push-in support.

     

    · Assist in system-level operations such as lunch/recess supervision, arrival/dismissal, hallway monitoring, and state/local testing logistics.

     

    · Support needs that arise throughout the school day or week, including short- and long-term assignments.

     

    · Participate in campus professional development, meetings, and collaborative planning opportunities.

     

    · Supervise students and assist in upholding and enforcing all policies, procedures and rules of the district and school.

     

    · Perform all other duties that are the responsibility of the absent teacher or paraprofessional, including, but not limited to, recess and lunch duty.

     

    · Learn and effectively use classroom technology tools, including logging in to all necessary district systems and platforms, to support instructional activities and student engagement during the substitute teaching period.

     

    · Follows all policies, procedures and rules of the district and school.

     

    · Perform other duties as assigned.

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

     

    Knowledge of:

     

    · Instructional methods, procedures, and objectives, including curriculum implementation, lesson plan preparation and implementation, educational software, student evaluation and grading, record and report preparation, and classroom management.

     

    · Classroom management techniques and behavior reinforcement strategies.

     

    · School and district policies, procedures, and routines.

     

    · Student safety protocols and supervision practices.

     

    · Basic functions of classroom technology and instructional tools.

     

    · Effective communication principles and professional conduct in educational settings.

     

    · Basic clerical skills, including but not limited to typing, keyboarding, filing, and copying.

     

    Ability to:

     

    · Follow and implement lesson plans provided by the absent teacher with fidelity.

     

    · Maintain classroom order and ensure a safe and respectful learning environment.

     

    · Uphold school-wide policies and expectations consistently.

     

    · Adapt to a variety of grade levels, subjects, and student needs.

     

    · Supervise students in various settings, including classrooms, hallways, recess, and lunch periods.

     

    · Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administrators.

     

    · Exercise sound judgment, flexibility, and professionalism in unfamiliar situations.

     

    · Log in to and navigate district technology systems to support student learning.

     

    · Follow daily schedules and routines as outlined in lesson plans.

     

    · Collaborate with school staff when clarification or support is needed.

     

    · Demonstrate integrity, ingenuity and inventiveness in the performance of assigned tasks.

     

    · Operate and use modern office equipment, including computers and appropriate software.

     

    · Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

     

    · Maintain regular attendance and adhere to prescribed work schedule to conduct job responsibilities.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

     

    Any equivalent combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

     

    · High school diploma or equivalent required

     

    · Previous experience working with students in instructional settings is highly desirable.

     

    · Strong classroom management skills and the ability to implement lesson plans with fidelity.

     

    · Reliable, adaptable, and committed to supporting schoolwide goals.

     

    · Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative approach.

     

    ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL ABILITIES
