Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to support the educational needs of students at Avon Elementary School. This part-time position involves working closely with teachers and students to create a positive learning environment, assist with classroom activities, and provide additional support to students as needed. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education and a commitment to fostering student success.
Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and organizing classroom activities.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them with assignments and understanding course content.
- Monitor student behavior and provide guidance to promote a positive classroom atmosphere.
- Support students with special needs by implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) under the direction of the teacher.
- Assist in the supervision of students during lunch, recess, and other non-classroom activities.
- Maintain student records and documentation as required.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, students, and parents regarding student progress and needs.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher or school administration.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in helping students succeed.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
- Ability to pass a background check and comply with school district policies.
- Flexibility to work part-time hours as scheduled.
*Must have or be able to obtain Highly Qualified Paraprofessional Status within 60 days from the start of employment.
