    Job Summary:
    To provide support to one or more students with disabilities, enabling them to receive greater benefit from the district's instructional program.

    Organizational Relationships:
    The Special Education Paraprofessional receives guidance from the classroom teacher, special education teacher, and/or Related Services Professionals and reports to the Building Administration.

    Qualifications:
    • Hold a valid State of Illinois professional educator license with teaching (preferred), substitute or paraprofessional endorsement.  
    • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions • Ability to visually supervise students, assess situations for safety concerns
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making decision regarding the safety and welfare of students 
    Salary and Benefits
    Salary established by the Board of Education and PSRP agreement. 
    Hourly rate of pay for 2025-26 is $22.58.  Paraprofessionals work 7.5 hours per day (7.0 paid hours and 0.5 unpaid lunch).  The work year includes 180 days plus 10 paid holidays for a toal of 190 paid days (1,330 paid hours per year)

    The Board will pay 100% of the premium cost of Employee Only HMO coverage and 90% of Employee Only PPO Coverage.

    Beginning November 1, 2025, the Board will pay 60% of the premium for dependent coverage (Family, Employee + Spouse, Employee + Children).
