Qualifications:

-High School Diploma or equivalent required.

-Highly qualified with one of the following:

·         Associates Degree or higher

·         Complete at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (equal to 60 semester hours)

·         Previous successful completion of the WorkKeys Assessment with scores as follows: Reading for Information: 4, Applied Math: 4, Writing: 3

·         Passing score on Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC)-Professional Readiness Exam or the   original Basic Skills Exam

·         Passing score of 460 on the ETS Parapro Assessment

       -Experience with children with disabilities.

      - Ability to assist with physical needs of students, including administering of medication as well as monitoring student during medical episodes.

       -Knowledge/experience with two person lift and SoloLift.

       -Ability to lift 75 pounds.

       -Ability to scribe both notes and assignments.

       -Available to attend training sessions, as needed.

      -CPR certified preferred.

      - Ability to work cooperatively with teachers, students, speech therapist, physical therapist and assistive technology coordinator.

-Specific duties within the building will be determined by the building principal in conjunction with special education staff and administration and may be modified during the school year as the needs of special education students change.

 

Hours of Work: 

6.75 hrs/day (8:20 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. w/40 min lunch) Monday-Friday when school is in session

*Start times on Tuesdays are 9:20 am due to late start
