Part-Time Long Term Sub Special Education Teacher

The North Polk Community School District is a progressive educational community located in the Des Moines metro area just north of Ankeny serving the communities of Alleman, Elkhart, Polk City, Sheldahl, and Northern Ankeny.  The District proudly serves over 2200 learners from preschool through 12th grade in five buildings (West Elementary, PK-2nd; Big Creek Elementary, 3rd-5th, Central Elementary, PK-5th, Middle School, 6th-8th; and High School, 9th-12th). 

West Elementary, in Polk City, is looking for a qualified substitute teacher to join our team by fulfilling a planned absence from January 5, 2026 through June 1, 2026 for a Special Education Teacher serving grades TK-2nd. 
 

Compensation:
$200.00 per day

Benefits:

• All substitutes are eligible for IPERS immediately (no qualification period).

School Hours: 
7:20 AM - 11:20 AM. This time can be flexible if needed.

Requirements:

• Valid Iowa Board of Educational Examiners licensure
• Special Education endorsement preferred
• All applications must include a minimum of 3 completed references.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Substitute teachers are responsible for providing instruction and managing classroom environments in absence of the regular teacher.
