POSITION TITLE: Paraprofessional-Preschool (Glen Acres)
Wage: $15.40 per hour
Hours: 29.5 Hours per week when school is in session (10:00am-4:15pm)
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Preschool Paraprofessionals work directly under the supervision of the Preschool Lead Instructor. All paraprofessionals are responsible to ensure the safety and instruction of students across all activities and locations. Also, paraprofessionals are responsible to maintain complete confidentiality about students and their records.
REPORTS TO:
The Preschool Paraprofessional reports directly to the Preschool Lead Instructor and Building administrator.
REQUIREMENTS: - Child Development Associate Certification preferred
- Current CPR/First Aid certification
- 20 hours of online Early Childhood Education training
- Ability to work and relate well with young children
- Dependable
- Punctual and consistent attendance
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Additional specific duties and responsibilities vary from classroom to classroom. Typical duties assigned to paraprofessionals may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Establish and enforce rules of behavior for children in their classrooms
- Provide basic needs for children including but not limited to toileting, changing pull-ups, and opening items for breakfast/lunch
- Provide tools and resources for children to use and explore during learning and play activities
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with children and parents
- Manage classroom activities including lessons, play, breaks and meals
- Help lead teacher track children’s progress
- Maintain a clean and tidy classroom
- Help children reach developmental milestones
- Encourage children to interact with each other to develop social skills
- Provide appropriate supervision for children at all times
- Help to facilitate various activities for children including songs, games and storytelling
- Adhere to health/safety and sanitation procedures
- Complete all training within 60 days of hire date
- Help to prepare materials
