Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Providence Elementary School. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing individualized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they receive a high-quality education in an inclusive environment. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Assess students' progress and adapt instructional strategies to facilitate learning and growth.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to create an inclusive classroom environment.
- Provide direct instruction to students in a variety of settings, including one-on-one, small groups, and whole-class instruction.
- Monitor and document student progress, maintaining accurate records of assessments and IEP goals.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student needs, develop strategies, and review IEPs.
- Create a positive and supportive classroom atmosphere that fosters student engagement and promotes social-emotional development.
- Stay informed about best practices in special education and participate in ongoing professional development.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding special education services.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid state teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in managing IEP documentation and student records.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning experiences.
