Resource Room Teacher
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and deliver specially designed instruction aligned to each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).
- Create and maintain a safe, positive, structured, and engaging classroom environment that supports student learning and growth.
- Collaborate closely with families, paraprofessionals, related service providers, administrators, and general education staff to support student achievement and progress.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress.
- Write, maintain, and implement compliant and effective Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that support student growth and achievement.
- Collect, maintain, and analyze student progress monitoring data to support instructional decision-making and IEP goal implementation.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, behavioral, social, and emotional needs of students.
- Foster a classroom culture that values inclusion, independence, respect, growth, and student success.
- Maintain accurate and timely classroom, behavioral, and student progress records while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with special education laws and district procedures.
- Work collaboratively as a positive team member to help all students build their success stories.
- Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
- This position requires regular and reliable in-person attendance.
TEACHING QUALIFICATIONS:
- Michigan Certification and Endorsement for appropriate grade levels required
- Must meet all of the NCLB qualifications
- Knowledge of special education laws, IEP process, and evidence-based practices
