TITLE: Social-Emotional Behavioral Learning Special Education Teacher

 

JOB BRIEF:

  • We are seeking a highly skilled and student-centered Special Education Teacher to serve within a district-level Social-Emotional and Behavioral Learning program. This position focuses on designing, implementing, and coordinating specially designed instruction and behavioral supports for students with intensive social-emotional and behavioral needs across the district. The teacher will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, families, and school sites to support student success and increase access to educational opportunities in the least restrictive environment. This role requires strong expertise in behavior intervention, social-emotional skill development, and individualized instruction within specialized and inclusive settings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Kansas Teaching License.
  • Degree from an accredited college or?university.
  • Special Education Secondary endorsement.
  • All USD 383 employees must pass a background check.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT/SALARY:  

  • Full time school year position. 
  • Based on Salary Schedule.  
  • 2025-2026 Salary Schedule
  • 2026-2027 Salary yet to be established.

REPORTS TO: The Director of Special Education or Building Principal.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Design, implement, and manage structured learning environments that promote social-emotional growth, positive behavior, and academic engagement for students with intensive behavioral needs across district programs and placements.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized behavior support plans and specially designed instruction, with a focus on increasing student independence and supporting successful participation in the least restrictive environment (LRE).
  • Utilize evidence-based instructional practices and behavior intervention strategies, adapting methods and materials to meet diverse student needs, settings, and levels of support across the district.
  • Collaborate with district and site-based teams to align instructional practices with the district’s philosophy, social-emotional learning framework, special education goals, and LRE decision-making processes.
  • Apply culturally responsive instructional and interpersonal practices that honor students’ cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds, fostering inclusive and respectful learning environments.
  • Support students in developing positive identity, self-advocacy, and respectful communication skills, while modeling and teaching language that values diversity and inclusion.
  • Collect, analyze, and use student data to evaluate academic, social-emotional, and behavioral progress and to inform instructional adjustments and LRE placement recommendations in accordance with IEP requirements.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records in compliance with legal requirements, district policies, and special education regulations.
  • Collaborate with families, caregivers, and community partners to support student success and facilitate transitions to less restrictive settings when appropriate.
  • Partner with administrators, related service providers, and instructional staff to plan, implement, and refine district-level SEBL programming and supports.
  • Support the implementation of district policies, school procedures, and behavior expectations to ensure safe, supportive, and consistent learning environments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration to support the effectiveness and sustainability of district-level social-emotional and behavioral learning programs.

  • USD 383 makes monthly contributions to a 403(b)-retirement account for all certified and eligible employees.

  • District provided devices - iPad, laptop and/or desktop for certified staff.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of certified personnel.
