Primary Purpose:
The Special Education Coordinator oversees the implementation of Special Education programs. They serve as a liaison between the administration, teachers, and parents to ensure every student receives a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree (required); Master's Degree in Special Education or School Administration
preferred
Valid Texas Teacher Certificate with Special Education endorsement or a valid Educational
Diagnostician certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of federal and special program rules and regulations
Ability to implement policy and procedures
Ability to analyze and interpret data
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in eSPED, SuccessEd or Frontline (formerly (ESPED)
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of successful classroom teaching in special education or related roles. Minimum of 3 years ARD facilitation experience preferred.

Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Environment: Frequent districtwide travel; occasional statewide travel
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
