Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Special Education Paraprofessional at Grayson County SSA. This full-time position involves providing support to students with diverse learning needs in a classroom environment. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers and other professionals to facilitate an inclusive learning atmosphere that promotes academic and social development for students with disabilities.

Responsibilities
- Assist the classroom teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them with academic tasks and social interactions.
- Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and any concerns, reporting findings to the teacher.
- Support the development of students' life skills, including communication, self-care, and social skills.
- Collaborate with educational staff to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
- Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and classroom activities.
- Help maintain a safe and organized classroom environment.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities as required.
- Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents regarding student progress and needs.
- Adhere to all school policies and procedures, including confidentiality and ethical standards.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or higher in education or a related field is preferred.
- Experience working with children, particularly those with special needs, is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of special education practices, including IEPs and behavior management strategies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and families.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support the growth and development of students with disabilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to changing classroom dynamics.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
- Must pass background checks and any additional screenings as required by state and school district regulations.
- CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
