Job Description:
The special education paraprofessional serves as a supportive assistant to classroom and special education teachers. Under the supervision of a licensed special education teacher, the paraprofessional may assist with classroom management, collecting data, small group and individual instruction, coaching, monitoring, direction/redirection and, at times, physical support for students with special needs.

Job Qualifications
Paraprofessionals are expected to have attained a high school diploma or its equivalent, two years of post-secondary education or an associate’s degree, or successful completion of the “Parapro” or “WorkKeys” assessment
Paraprofessionals should have prior experience working with children in a school setting
Preferred skills include second language abilities, experience working with special needs students and ABA strategies. RBT certification would be an asset to this program.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Assisting students in achieving academic and social successes
Behavior support which includes physical management (training provided upon hire)
Personal care
Consultation and collaboration with Special Education and Regular Education
Teachers as well as related service staff
Any and all other duties as may be assigned by the building administrator
