POSITION SUMMARY

The Watson Chapel School District is seeking a reliable, student-focused Special Education Paraprofessional to join our Special Education team. This individual will assist students with academic needs in a variety of settings, including the resource classroom, general education classrooms, and small-group instruction. The ideal candidate is a team player with a passion for supporting student learning and success.

Support the implementation of instructional plans as directed by the special education teacher.

 

Work with students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning objectives.

 

Assist with classroom organization, preparation of instructional materials, and maintaining a positive learning environment.

 

Monitor student progress and behavior during academic activities.

 

Provide support and supervision in general education settings, ensuring students receive appropriate accommodations and modifications.

 

Maintain accurate records and documentation as directed.

 

Communicate effectively with students and staff, maintaining a professional and supportive demeanor.

 

Maintain student confidentiality at all times.

• 

Reflect on practice and make adjustments for professional growth.  

• 

Maintain professionalism with staff members.  

• 

Report to the proper authorities any cases of suspected child endangerment, neglect, or abuse.  

• 

Report suspected bullying to the building principal or designee as required by Arkansas law and district policies.  

• 

Adhere to all policies of the District.  

• 

Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Assistant Principal.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or 60 college hours required.

Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with teachers and staff.

Experience:

Experience working with children or in an educational setting is preferred.

 

Computer Skills:

Shall be able to demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency with computers and programs associated with the position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

This position is predominately in an indoor environment but does involve occasional outdoor duties. The indoor sound level varies from very quiet to moderately loud, depending on the activities taking place.
