Part-Time Special Education Paraprofessional
Location: Hope Leadership Academy, Kansas City, MO
Reports To: Special Education Teacher & School Leadership
Position Overview
Hope Leadership Academy (HLA) is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Part-Time Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with special needs in achieving their academic and social-emotional goals. The SPED Paraprofessional will work in collaboration with classroom teachers and special education staff to provide individualized support and ensure access to high-quality instruction.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to students with disabilities in general education and/or special education settings.
- Implement accommodations and modifications as outlined in students’ IEPs.
- Support classroom instruction by reinforcing lessons, assisting with small groups, and providing one-on-one guidance.
- Assist with behavior support strategies and promote positive student engagement.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to monitor student progress and needs.
- Support students with daily living skills or personal care needs, if required.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and information.
- Participate in professional development and training as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience working with children, preferably in an educational or special education setting.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Patience, flexibility, and a growth mindset.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Must pass background check and meet state/federal employment requirements.
Schedule & Compensation
- Work Days: Monday–Thursday (part-time, approx. 20-25 hours/week).
- Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on experience and qualifications.
