  • Job Title: Elementary Special Education Paraprofessional
    Location: Lake Roosevelt Jr/Sr High School, Grand Coulee Dam School District, Coulee Dam, WA
    Hours: 7.5 hours/day, 151 days/year (7:45 AM – 3:30 PM) (4 day school week)
    Reports To: Special Education Director
    Salary: As per the current PSE agreement

    Position Overview

    The Grand Coulee Dam School District is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with diverse learning needs at Lake Roosevelt Schools. This role involves assisting in the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), providing instructional support, and fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Instructional Support:

      • Assist the Special Education Teacher in delivering individualized and small group instruction in reading, writing, and math.

      • Adapt and implement lesson plans to meet the diverse needs of students.

      • Develop and deliver specially designed instruction to reinforce classroom objectives.

    • Behavioral and Classroom Management:

      • Implement behavior intervention plans as designed by the teacher.

      • Assist students in maintaining on-task behavior and promote positive social interactions.

      • Supervise students during recess, lunch, and passing times to ensure a safe environment.

    • Student Support:

      • Provide physical assistance as needed, including lifting up to 60 pounds.

      • Assist students with personal hygiene needs and daily living skills.

      • Encourage student independence and self-reliance through structured support.

    • Collaboration and Communication:

      • Attend and participate in IEP meetings as requested.

      • Maintain accurate and confidential records/documentation of student progress.

      • Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other staff members.

    • Additional Duties:

      • Assist with the preparation of classroom materials and resources.

      • Support students during field trips and other school activities.

      • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Special Education Director.

    Qualifications

    • Education:

      • High School Diploma or equivalent.

      • Completion of an Associate’s Degree, 48 semester/72 quarter college credits, or passing score on the Paraprofessional Assessment.

    • Experience:

      • Prior experience working with students with special needs is preferred.

    • Certifications:

      • Current First Aid and CPR certification.

      • Valid Washington State Background Check clearance.

    • Skills and Abilities:

      • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

      • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

      • Demonstrated patience, flexibility, and creativity in supporting students.

      • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and assist with physical tasks as needed.
